Daria Kasatkina: «Tomorrow I will come out on court and will try to play my best tennis!»

Daria Kasatkina: «Tomorrow I will come out on court and will try to play my best tennis!»

October 19, 08:45 PM

The match was really interesting. What helped you to finish it off before it started getting on the nerves of everyone like in that match in Dubai again Johanna Konta?

I was told that today’s match was my best one at the tournament, but I don't necessarily agree, yesterday’s match was better. But possibly it is better seen from aside. Today I didn’t give her any easy point. I was playing from the baseline really well, I wasn’t giving her time to think during rallies, that was important.

At the end of the first set, when you were ahead of your opponent, she started to break you back. How did that happen?

I don't know, to be honest, I was not nervous. Everything was fine. It just so happened. I took the risk on my first serve and failed, after that she fired an ace, it brought us to 40/30. It was already tense. One point can change everything, and we ended up at "duce". It is tennis, it is always like that. I am happy that in the end I won the match.

You’ve played against Ons Jabeur before at the Olympic games and you won back then. What do you expect from this final against her?

I do not know what to expect. I think, even she [Ons Jabeur] doesn’t know what to expect from herself. She plays a very interesting tennis, her game style is very messy, many slices, drop shots, net approaches. Anything can happen, that is why I do not have any expectation from the final match. Tomorrow I will come out on the court and will try my best to play my best!

Are there any thoughts about this season coming to an end? Or you just do not let your body relax?

This thought has been stuck in my head for a long time. But when you are getting into the tournament rhythm, a match goes after a match, you just forget about it. Right now I do not even bother myself with such thoughts, even if you are tired physically, emotionally you’re pumped up after every victory. You feel fresh. That is the most important thing to me.

Speaking about your family, who is your biggest fan?

My brother. He is with me all the time since I was 9. His really into tennis and sport. If you talk to him, you will understand what I am talking about.

Many tennis players’ parents say that it is hard to watch their children play, it is too much on them. Do your mother and father manage to watch your matches?

My dad right now is at home, he doesn’t go anywhere. My mom watches my matches calmly, never watches it on TV if she is present at the tournament. She is very calm.

So this you inherited that "Daria Kasatkina’s composure” from your mom?

No, my dad is also a very calm person, I think it is just a good combination I inherited acquanted from both parents.

Press-service of the tournament.
